Student Life at MUSPH

Thank you for your interest in Makerere University School of Public Health (MUSPH). We are proud of our history and value the opportunity to educate and train tomorrow's public health professionals. MUSPH is an ideal setting in which to study public health; we have a committed team that gives quality education and supervision to the students.

Get the Experience of your Life

Studying at MUSPH can be the most enriching experience of your life. Students at MUSPH have access to most of the resources they need for their studying needs. We have a cosy and well-stocked library/resource centre, with journals, bulletins and up to date books on different areas of public health. We also have fast wireless internet connection, which students with personal laptops can access at any point within the MUSPH building. The computer lab can also accommodate a modest number of students at ago!
Our lecturers adopt a personal approach to teaching, taking time to know all their students and their learning challenges; thereby able to provide focused help. Our students get all the necessary help and supervision to finish their courses in time. Our teaching is practical, so our students are able to work soon after graduation.
At MUSPH, you will get opportunity to interact with students from different parts of the world; Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas. This intercultural exchange prepares out graduates to comfortably work in different cultural and geographical settings.

Social Life

On campus, there are several associations bringing together students from similar background, for spiritual, cultural, and social growth and development. Joining any of these associations is voluntary but advisable.
Within the Mulago National Referral Hospital, close to the school, there are places of worship; a mosque, a Roman Catholic church and an Anglican church. 
The School of Public Health is located within Mulago National Referral Hospital complex, a walkable distance from the Main University Campus. The school campus is close to Wandegeya; a busy town with student friendly services, like eateries; student hostels, hair parlours, supermarkets and a fresh produce market.
Transport from Kampala city centre is by matatu (commuter taxi) and largely affordable. Alternatively, one can travel by boda boda (motor-cycle) although this is not very advisable given the manner in which the riders go about their business. However, if you must use one caution the cyclist on reckless speed and carelessness. Carry along a crash helmet as well.   
Night life in Kampala is vibrant, with several nigh clubs and discotheques, some offering theme nights for students. Caution is necessary to avoid over-indulgency that may result into complications like unwanted pregnancies, STIs including HIV/AIDS, substance abuse and criminal acts.
